Thirteen-year-old Lucy Dubé of Sydney found a simple way to express love when she heard about Second Life Stationery. This appeal collects and redistributes gently-used stationery items that assist disadvantaged families. Lucy noticed how much stationery she had at home that was in good condition and remembered that some families had trouble providing all the stationery needs required at school for their children. Lucy's Young Women's leader at church, Sarah Campbell, brought this to the attention of the girls in the congregation and Lucy decided to take on the project.
Over two weeks Lucy approached church members, other young women in the congregation, school friends and neighbours. She was amazed and grateful for the generosity of people who also felt that this was a good cause. Lucy has used this experience as a part of her Young Women's Personal Progress goals and is looking forward to taking on other projects. Lucy said that she really feels that it's a good use of stationery as well as a great opportunity to help people participate at school so they can get the best education possible. 'Kaz' from Second Life Stationery thanked Lucy and mentioned that there are many children in need and that the little gift will make a real difference to their experience at school.
