It was a different kind of social gathering for young adults of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as they prepared culinary delights to give to the local "Shining Stars" charitable organisation.
The Multi-Stake (group of congregations) event united young adults (YSA) from all over Sydney to support the underprivileged and homeless of the wider Campbelltown area as they donated their time and skills to cook and package food for Shining Stars.

The willingness of YSA to serve and do something for others was clearly evident by the smiles at every food-prep station. Kiara, YSA representative in Dapto and Multi-Stake YSA secretary, shared, “It’s the first time [for us] to do service on this scale. Everyone’s really happy.”
“It’s the essence of the gospel [of Jesus Christ]. If we don’t put into practice what we learn, we’re missing the point," said Latu Amituanai, YSA leader, Ropes Crossing.
Enjoying the day, Ammon Taumalalolo, YSA Harbour Stake said, “There’s good people in the world; there’s such a good vibe when like-minded people [who want to help] get together.”
“What an amazing response! We’re so grateful,” exclaimed Kylee, founder of Shining Stars. “It gives our volunteers some much deserved time-off.” Co-founder Lynne, likewise, was impressed by the “unreal teamwork.”
