The Beginnings of Family Home Evening – What Made it Work

On 20th April, the Australian Mormon Newsroom site presented an article entitled “Mormons Celebrate ‘Family Home Evening’ 100th Anniversary”.  The global Mormon Newsroom has just featured an article going back to the beginnings of FHE and what has made it a significant success for the Church and its members.  

Back in 1957, when he was stationed in the outskirts of Alaska with the United States Air Force, Frank Santiago, now of Provo, Utah, learned the doctrinal details of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and decided to be baptised. 

One of these pivotal details was a family centred focus, and Frank determined he would implement that doctrine in his forthcoming family.
