Community leaders Barry and Fay Dalton were recently invited to attend a ward (congregation) Sacrament meeting in the Blair Athol Chapel of the Macarthur Stake (diocese) of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Daltons welcomed the opportunity to attend the ward meeting and to hear the inspired messages. After their visit to the Church's local Sacrament meeting, Fay Dalton said, "We are often visiting prisons and courts and offering support; it’s so nice to be in the congregation. We felt like we belonged,”
Following the address by President Morgan Jones, president of the Macarthur Stake of the Church, Barry said, “We [seek to] walk in Christ’s footsteps and tell people of Him.” Fay added, “That’s our common denominator.”
Daltons serve with the Missionary of The Sacred Heart Outreach organisation in providing assistance to people who are being released from prison after serving their sentences, and helping mentor those individuals as they adjust to living back in society. The Daltons also serve within the Downing Centre Courts in providing outreach support through Prison Fellowship to individuals currently in prison and going through the court process.
Fay and Barry met members of the Church two years ago through the Macarthur Interfaith Network (MIN). “We were so impressed, at a dinner hosted by the Church, that we have the same message [about Jesus Christ],” remarked Fay.
The Daltons were in attendance because they had accepted an invitation from the Church to receive donated backpacks and contents assembled by the Macarthur Stake to be given to and used by former prison inmates who are now being released into the community.
