Twenty-five-year old Torah Bright received The Medal of the Order of Australia on Australia Day, 26th January 2012. The acclaim was bestowed for service to sport as a Gold Medallist at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games, where she triumphed in the women’s half pipe competition.
The Mormon athlete is now training to compete for Australia in February 2014 at the Russia XXII Olympiad.
In a recent ABC television documentary, Torah explains the considerations involved in her decision and the strength she derives from her family’s support. She also talks about her childhood on skis on Australia’s slopes, about meeting her husband, and about her Mormon faith.

The Medal of the Order of Australia is awarded to individuals nominated by the community whose achievements are deemed "worthy of recognition" by the Order of Australia Council.
