Day 1 #LightTheWorld: Freely Ye Have Received, Freely Give

Perth is flying high with the spirit of Christmas as skybanners announce, "Look Up - Unite Perth, #LightThe World." It's their way to begin a month-long focus of following the teachings of Jesus Christ by uniting together in serving one another.

Serving others is occurring not only in Perth during the month of December, but right across the country, in large cities to small rural communities.

As citizens in Perth look up to Christ and follow His example, they can help to #LightTheWorld in Western Australia. Neighbours, families and friends are encouraged to give gifts of service in 25 ways, over 25 days.

When one family told their elderly neighbour about this Christmas initiative, she expressed concern for those who are homeless and hungry but wondered how she could help. She doesn't drive anymore so the couple offered to drive her to an event specifically designed to help those in need.

One of the greatest ways we can help is to assist those who would like to participate in following Christ's example but may need some help to do so. Our time may be one of the greatest gifts we can give.

Jesus made it clear that everything we have is a gift freely given from God. We should be grateful for all that we have and be willing to give just as freely to others.
