Day 25 #LightTheWorld: Let Your Light So Shine

Day 25 #LightTheWorld: Let Your Light So Shine

News Release

Australia is brighter this year because of the many ways in which individuals, families and communities have come together in service and personal commitments to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. Their light shines as they glorify their Father in heaven.

Here are some of the ways Australia has helped to #LightTheWorld this December:

  • Garden gloves and tools were given to a neighbour to help with their summer planting
  • A free health consultation was provided which so pleased the client that she too "paid it forward"
  • A community family picnic was organised, complete with children's activities
  • Carols were sung to the homeless along with receiving a blanket, meal and gift box
  • Youth participated in a service scavenger hunt and played the piano at an aged care facility
  • A Christmas dinner was planned and served to over 150 young single adults
  • Cherished family nativities were shared in a community exhibit
  • Bottles of water were delivered to charitable organizations
  • Children sent get well cards to a neighbour recently diagnosed with a serious illness
  • Elderly neighbours were taken Christmas shopping
  • Personal gifts were committed on "My Gift to the Saviour" cards such as pray for the sick, be more grateful and optimistic, listen to my mum and share my happiness with others - and then hung as Christmas tree ornaments

Jesus taught, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Matthew 5:16

Once again, we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ by serving others this Christmas season. As we follow His example, we can help #LightTheWorld.

On behalf of Mormon Newsroom Australia we wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
