Brisbane Church Members Beautify Primary School

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have been busy in their local community, taking part in an annual service project at Moorooka State Primary School.

Approximately 120 members of the Brisbane Australia Stake (diocese) gathered at the school for three hours on a recent Saturday morning, participating in activities such as weeding, mulching, planting new species, building garden beds, and building a fort in which school children can play. 

The work contributed to creating a positive environment for the school children.

School Principal Vicki Hyne expressed her gratitude for the work accomplished and its impact on the students.

“It was an immense help and we greatly appreciate the time and effort from the Church. Our students are loving their new adventures in our fort, and the plants that have been added to the school are thriving after the recent rain. Thank you to everyone who came on the day. It really made a huge difference."

At the end of the service project, a closing ceremony was held which provided an opportunity for members of the Church and the school to get to know each other and build relationships.

In speaking of the event, Brisbane Stake President Esben Strodl remarked, "An important part of our teachings is to serve others and to be good friends and neighbours within the community. It is through sacrificing our time and our talents to help others that our members experience the greatest growth in becoming true disciples of Jesus Christ. We are glad that our members could make a real difference to this school while simultaneously strengthening their discipleship.”
