Book of Mormon Stories Come Alive in Updated Videos

"Book of Mormon stories are coming alive for children, youth, and others this month with the updated Book of Mormon Stories videos, available now in English at the Scripture Stories website on LDS.org," according to a report on LDS.org.

The article continues: "The videos will be made available in Cantonese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish, in December in time for 2012's Gospel Doctrine curriculum, focused on the Book of Mormon."

"Originally available online as slideshows, the once two-dimensional images were given a new, animated three-dimensional look using a technique called parallax animation. Figures are cut out and moved around the canvas, and panning, blurring, and zooming provide additional visual interest."

Auckland father of four, Chris, says he watched several stories with his two younger children (ages seven and four) and was surprised how engaged they were as they were wanting to view cartoons on television.

"This gave me an opportunity to teach them about the gospel in a way that interested them," he said. "I look forward to moving through the series and am grateful to the Church for a wonderful teaching tool."
