Australian Dancer, Now Mormon Missionary, Celebrates World Ballet Day

Australian ballet dancer, Jake Mangakahia, celebrated World Ballet Day this week by dancing on the grounds of the Toronto Ontario Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Jake is serving a two-year mission for the Church, and is known by those he meets as “Elder Mangakahia.” He is serving in the Toronto Canada Mission.

Previously a member of the Australian Ballet Company’s corps de ballet (the first professional level), Elder Mangakahia’s goal is to become a Principal with the Australian Ballet. He has received numerous accolades and awards in his profession so far as a ballet star.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' missionary program is one of its most recognised characteristics. Mormon missionaries can be seen on the streets of hundreds of major cities in the world as well as in thousands of smaller communities.
