Adeline Monaghan named WA Primary School Teacher of the Year

The Western Australia Department of Education has named Adeline Monaghan as Primary School Teacher of the Year for the state. “Awards judges were blown away by the community’s response to Mrs Monaghan’s work in South Hedland” as a “highly respected mentor, community representative and teacher who has forged positive relationships with students, staff, parents and the wider community.”

Speaking of her 22-year career, Mrs Monaghan said, “To me, my job is not work. It’s a passion, and I know I couldn’t do it without the support of my colleagues. I most enjoy the feeling of accomplishment, particularly seeing my students become wiser and not only learn what I teach them in class but also apply that knowledge in their day-to-day lives.”
