Papua New Guinea Woman Wins Employee of the Year

Olive Whippy was recently presented with the prestigious Employee of the Year Award by Westpac Pacific.  This award recognises an exceptional contribution by one of the organisation’s staff in the entire Pacific and is therefore a significant achievement for Olive.

Ms Whippy is Manager of Operational Risk and Compliance in Papa New Guinea. According to Greg Pawson, General Manager of Westpac Pacific, she has, “distinguished herself through her exceptional behaviour and contribution to the business.”

“In her role,” Greg Pawson continued, “Olive has worked hard to lead key responses to issues relating to our business in PNG throughout the year.  Congratulations from all of us, Olive, and thank you for your hard work.”

Ms Whippy has been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for 32 years. She is married to Paul Whippy, the Service Centre manager  for the Church in PNG.  They have six children. Paul was formerly the manager of Church operations in Fiji.

Later, Olive said of the award presentation, “I was delighted to receive this recognition from Westpac.  I have been with the bank for 38 years and find the work challenging and fulfilling.”

“As a member of the Church, I have learned to work hard, be dependable, and give my best effort in everything that I do. Being a member of the Church affects every endeavour, even my home life.  I try to follow the Saviour Jesus Christ as much as I can.

“Our faith is all about being honest and serving others, so it makes my life easier in that sense and makes my work easier.  I had already made a commitment to do my best in life when I was baptised.”
