Latter-day Saints Welcome Members of Parliament to Mortdale Conference

Mr David Coleman, Federal Member for Banks, and Mr Craig Kelly, Federal Member for Hughes, attend Church conference in Mortdale, Sydney

Two Members of Parliament attended the Sunday session of the Sydney Australia Mortdale Stake Conference recently.  President Andrew Campbell, counsellor in the stake presidency, said he was delighted Mr Coleman and Mr Kelly were able to attend the conference.

Following the session of conference, a luncheon was held to provide the opportunity for congregational leaders to meet with Mr Coleman and Mr Kelly.

Mr Coleman spoke to the group on the importance of the family unit.  He expressed his gratitude for being able to serve the community as a Member of Parliament, but, he said, “I consider my most important role to be as a husband and father.”

Mr Kelly echoed those sentiments and re-emphasized the significance of the family unit to the well-being of society.

Both Members of Parliament and Mortdale Latter-day Saints share a common interest in community service efforts.

Mr Coleman and Mr Kelly are involved in the re-development of the St. George and Sutherland Hospitals. A group of Latter-day Saints from Mortdale recently provided hand warmers for patients of these hospitals.

Mortdale Latter-day Saints are now organizing another community service event, which will also focus on the needs of the hospitals.
