Local women from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sydney will join women from other faiths and communities at the upcoming Inaugural 'Women of Diversity' Dinner, themed 'Harmony Begins at Home'.
The evening will be held at the Sapphire Function Centre in Auburn on Saturday evening 17th September, and will consist of a diverse group of women from Aboriginal, Armenian, Asian, Catholic, Latter-day Saint, Jewish, Muslin and the South Asian communities. Representatives from the Ethnic Communities’ Council of NSW, Settlement Services International and the Uniting Church will also be in attendance.
Of the 250 guests attending, at least 100 will be refugees who are being supported by both Settlement Services International and the Syrian Resource Centre. This event will also include a strong presence of women from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and NSW Jewish Board of Deputies.
The aim is to bring Sydney women together to build relationships around an issue of shared focus. This year the theme is “harmony starts at home,” referring both to family harmony – against domestic violence – and community harmony in society.
The guest speaker will be Juliana Nkrumah AM, Coordinator of the NSW Police Force’s Multicultural Community Liaison and Founder of African Women Australia. Performances will include a Polynesian performing group from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The story should be a maximum of 375 words. Collected stories will be published in a book given to women who attend the dinner. Three stories will be selected for sharing at the dinner.
