Church Leaders Call for Greater Unity Between Faiths

The Most Reverend Mark Coleridge, Catholic Archbishop of Brisbane, met with Elder Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints last Saturday (14 May) in Brisbane.

The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen interfaith ties and to discuss common issues among Christian believers.

Other Latter-day Saint leaders who visited with Archbishop Coleridge yesterday included: Elder Lynn G. Robbins of the Church’s Presidency of the Seventy; Elder Kevin W. Pearson, president of the Pacific Area; and Elder Keith P. Walker.

Archbishop Coleridge was invited to join Elder Andersen on the grounds of the Brisbane Australia Temple at Kangaroo Point on Saturday 14 May 2016 as part of ongoing conversations between leaders of the two faiths.

“It was a pleasure to welcome Archbishop Coleridge to our temple grounds. We took the opportunity to discuss issues facing people of faith everywhere,” Elder Andersen said.

The leaders share a desire for greater unity between believers of different faiths and optimism for future cooperation between the churches.

Archbishop Coleridge expressed his love of architecture and showed great interest in the design of the temple and adjoining meetinghouse.
