    Australians Serving Church in Ghana Accra West Mission

    Robert Harry Simpson of suburban Sydney, Australia has recently started his service as Mission President in the Ghana Accra West Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with his wife Jinny Atele Beatrice Poutoa Simpson. 

    The Church in Ghana is growing rapidly with more than 67,000 members in over 240 congregations served by four missions and one temple. Ghana is a former Commonwealth country and the first West African country to achieve independence (1957). English is the official language of Ghana, but it is a multicultural and multilinguistic country of 27 million people, some 70% of whom are Christian.  

    President Simpson has served the Church in a number of positions including stake president, bishop and missionary in the Fiji Suva Mission. He is a native of New Zealand, and Sister Simpson is a native of Samoa. They are the parents of seven children.
