Australian ‘Mormon Helping Hands’ Volunteers Plant 675 Trees

Activity Part of Ongoing Worldwide Effort to Serve Communities

A recent service activity that saw 675 trees planted by “Mormon Helping Hands” volunteers on New South Wales’ Central Coast is part of an ongoing worldwide effort by members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to serve communities.

Members of the Church’s Newcastle Australia Stake participated in the Wyong Shire Landcare project on 17 May.

Latter-day Saints of all ages planted, mulched, watered and installed tree guards on the day.

“It was a lot of fun for all involved, especially the children,” local Latter-day Saint leader, Conrad Dunn, said.  “We were grateful to give service in the community and give back to the area in which we live.”

Latter-day Saints around the world believe that giving service in their communities and teaching their children to do the same are central parts of being a follower of Jesus Christ.

Over the last two months Mormon Helping Hands volunteers in Chile have worked with government and other churches to help those affected by destructive fires in the city of Valparaiso in April.
