Australia Wide Features a Day in the Life of LDS Missionaries

The ABC regional focused program, ‘Australia Wide’, recently featured a segment showing a day in the life of LDS missionary elders serving at Katherine in the Northern Territory.

Elder Connor Bennion, 20, from Chicago, and Elder Matthew Nelson, 21, from Perry, Utah, are among the 65,000 missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving around the world. Their time is spent inviting others to hear messages and teachings about Jesus Christ armed with the Bible and the Book of Mormon, and providing service within the community as well as taking time for personal study.

All Mormon missionaries – recognised in cities and the outback alike with their bikes, badges and conservative attire - serve without any payment but it is a rewarding experience for these young elders (their priesthood title) who are part of the Australia Adelaide Mission, one of the largest geographical mission of the worldwide church.

Elder Bennion is building on a strong family tradition of missionary service, while Elder Nelson was motivated in part by his mother’s conversion to the faith.
